ASTM A500 is a manufacturing specification for cold-formed structural steel tubing, applicable to Round Hollow Sections (CHS), Square Hollow Sections (SHS), and Rectangular Hollow Sections (RHS).

Grade D is a medium-to-high-strength structural steel grade. Although its yield strength is lower than that of Grades B and C, Grade D emphasizes overall performance, including toughness, weldability, cold formability, and crack resistance.
ASTM A500 Grade D is suitable for high-load structures, long-span projects, and heavy-duty steel structures.
ASTM A500 Grade D has a moderate carbon content (C ≤ 0.26%). Rather than aiming for extreme high strength, it prioritizes a balance of various properties.
A500 Gr D is suitable for MIG welding, TIG welding, and arc welding, and is widely used in steel structure assembly and on-site welding work.
