GOST 10704

The GOST 10704 standard is one of the core specifications developed by the former Soviet Union specifically for welded steel pipes. Steel pipes conforming to this standard are widely used in Russia and other CIS countries, including Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Ukraine. GOST 10704 specifies the dimensions, lengths, tolerances, and manufacturing process requirements for these pipes. Typically, GOST 10704 is used in conjunction with GOST 1050 and GOST 380, and is widely applied in building structures, mechanical engineering, oil and gas transportation, and pile foundation support structures. The primary objective of the GOST 10704 standard is to establish uniform specifications to ensure product consistency, and it is extensively used in heavy industry, energy, and infrastructure sectors.

Why Choose ALLLAND?

ALLLAND has an annual production capacity of 200,000 metric tons of JCOE straight-seam submerged-arc welded steel pipes and is equipped with advanced ERW production lines to meet the dimensional accuracy requirements for small- and medium-diameter steel pipes.
ALLLAND ensures that the material of the steel pipes strictly complies with the requirements of GOST 10704 through independent chemical analysis and mechanical testing. Each steel pipe undergoes hydrostatic testing, and 100% of welds are subjected to ultrasonic (UT) or X-ray non-destructive testing to ensure zero internal defects.
ALLLAND operates an independent anti-corrosion division with three coating lines and an annual coating capacity of 4 million square meters, offering a variety of coating services including FBE, 2FBE, 2PE, and 3LPE. We provide a one-stop solution from steel pipes to anti-corrosion coating, helping customers save costs.

Performance of GOST 10704

GOST 10704 is a dimensional standard that specifies only the dimensions, shape, and length of steel pipes; the performance and material properties of steel pipes are typically specified in conjunction with GOST 10705. In practical engineering applications, these two standards must be used together and are both essential.
GOST 10705 is divided into four groups based on quality indicators: Group A, Group B, Group C, and Group D. Group A includes the following steel grades: St1, St2, St3, and St4; Groups B and C include: St1–St4, 08, 10, 15, 20, 08Yu, and 22Gyu; Group D includes all steel grades.
The mechanical properties of common steel grades are summarized as follows:

Applications of GOST 10704

GOST 10704 is a dimensional standard for electric-welded straight-seam steel pipes, primarily used in building structures, mechanical manufacturing, low-pressure fluid pipelines, and general industrial equipment.

1 Low-Pressure Fluid Conveyance
Low-pressure fluid conveyance is the primary and most critical application area for GOST 10704 steel pipes. These pipes are used to transport domestic and industrial water, as well as for the low-pressure conveyance of natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). They are also widely used in district heating networks to transport heating media during the winter. Such applications typically involve low pressure ratings (≤4.0 MPa) but place high demands on the pipes’ weldability and leak-tightness.

2 Building Structures
The most widespread application of GOST 10704 steel pipes is in building structures, primarily for non-load-bearing applications. Main uses include: scaffolding, temporary support systems, frame support components for warehouses, stair railings, balcony guardrails, foundation steel pipe piles, and temporary shed frameworks.

3 Oil and Gas Industry
Long-distance, high-pressure oil and gas trunk lines primarily use spiral-welded pipes (GOST 20295) or seamless steel pipes (GOST 8732), while GOST 10704 steel pipes serve important auxiliary purposes in the oil and gas sector. Applications include process piping at facilities, water injection pipelines, and structural support components.
