What is HSAW

What is HSAW

In the steel pipe industry, HSAW stands for Helical Submerged Arc Welded Pipe; these pipes are manufactured using hot-rolled steel coils as raw material via the SAW (Submerged Arc Welding) process. The terms HSAW, SSAW, and SAWH are used interchangeably to refer to spiral-welded steel pipes characterized by a helical weld seam along the pipe body.

In many international standards and project specifications, HSAW, SSAW, and SAWH are treated as the same product.

The production process involves: uncoiling hot-rolled steel coils, leveling and edge trimming, spiral forming, internal welding, external welding, ultrasonic testing, hydrostatic testing, and anti-corrosion treatment.
