Where A is the cross-sectional area of a circular pipe, calculated as: A = π d² / 4. Since 4 / π ≈ 1.273, the final formula simplifies to:

v = 1.273 × Q / d²

Where GMP = flow rate, and Inch = pipe inner diameter, so

v = 0.4084 × qgpm / din²
