Schedule 60 Steel Pipe Thickness
Schedule 60 steel pipe thickness refers to the nominal wall thickness assigned to a specific NPS under the Schedule 60 dimensional series.
The important point is that Schedule 60 does not represent one fixed wall thickness. The actual nominal wall thickness changes with pipe size.

Schedule 60 Wall Thickness Tolerance
The nominal wall thickness shown in a Schedule 60 table is not the same thing as the minimum wall thickness permitted after manufacturing.
For example:
NPS 12 × Schedule 60
has a nominal wall thickness of:
14.27 mm
However, if the pipe is manufactured to ASTM A106/A106M or ASTM A53/A53M, the applicable specification allows the minimum wall thickness at any point to be as low as 87.5% of the specified wall thickness, corresponding to a maximum negative tolerance of −12.5%. ASTM A106 states that the minimum wall thickness at any point shall not be more than 12.5% under the specified wall thickness, and ASTM A53 contains the same 12.5% minimum-wall requirement.
