Schedule 60 Pipe Size Chart
Schedule 60 pipe is a standardized wall-thickness designation used with specific nominal pipe sizes (NPS). The actual dimensions of a Schedule 60 pipe are defined by its nominal size, outside diameter, and wall thickness. For a given NPS, the outside diameter remains fixed while the Schedule 60 wall thickness determines the inside diameter.
The following table summarizes the commonly listed Schedule 60 dimensions for NPS 8 through NPS 24.
| NPS | DN | OD (in) | OD (mm) | WT (in) | WT (mm) | ID (in) | ID (mm) |
| 8 | 200 | 8.625 | 219.1 | 0.406 | 10.31 | 7.813 | 198.4 |
| 10 | 250 | 10.75 | 273 | 0.5 | 12.7 | 9.75 | 247.7 |
| 12 | 300 | 12.75 | 323.9 | 0.562 | 14.27 | 11.626 | 295.3 |
| 14 | 350 | 14 | 355.6 | 0.594 | 15.09 | 12.812 | 325.4 |
| 16 | 400 | 16 | 406.4 | 0.656 | 16.66 | 14.688 | 373.1 |
| 18 | 450 | 18 | 457.2 | 0.75 | 19.05 | 16.5 | 419.1 |
| 20 | 500 | 20 | 508 | 0.812 | 20.62 | 18.375 | 466.8 |
| 22 | 550 | 22 | 558.8 | 0.875 | 22.22 | 20.25 | 514.4 |
| 24 | 600 | 24 | 609.6 | 0.969 | 24.61 | 22.063 | 560.4 |
Note: The standard Schedule 60 series therefore contains the following commonly listed sizes:8″, 10″, 12″, 14″, 16″, 18″, 20″, 22″ and 24″.
ASME B36.10Mcontains a range of nominal pipe sizes from very small pipe through large-diameter pipe, but the available Schedule designations vary by NPS. For example, NPS 1/8 has several standard schedules, but Schedule 60 is not one of the listed combinations.
Therefore, a manufacturer may be able to produce a particular OD and wall thickness by agreement, but that should not automatically be described as a standard ASME B36.10M Schedule 60 pipe.
Schedule 60 Pipe Dimensions in Inches
For engineering drawings and specifications using the imperial system, the key dimensions can be expressed in inches.
| NPS | OD (in) | WT (in) | ID (in) |
| 8 | 8.625 | 0.406 | 7.813 |
| 10 | 10.75 | 0.5 | 9.75 |
| 12 | 12.75 | 0.562 | 11.626 |
| 14 | 14 | 0.594 | 12.812 |
| 16 | 16 | 0.656 | 14.688 |
| 18 | 18 | 0.75 | 16.5 |
| 20 | 20 | 0.812 | 18.375 |
| 22 | 22 | 0.875 | 20.25 |
| 24 | 24 | 0.969 | 22.063 |
How to Read a Schedule 60 Pipe Specification
A designation such as:
12″ Schedule 60 Steel Pipe, can be interpreted as:
- 12″ = NPS 12
- DN = DN 300
- OD = 323.9 mm
- Schedule = 60
- Nominal WT = 14.27 mm
- Calculated ID ≈ 295.3 mm
However, this designation does not tell you the steel grade, manufacturing method, length, testing requirements or coating.
A complete purchase specification may therefore contain additional information such as:
NPS 12 × Schedule 60 × ASTM A106 Grade B × Seamless × 12 m
The Schedule identifies the dimensional wall-thickness series; the material and manufacturing requirements come from the applicable product specification.
