API 5L X52 is a high-strength pipeline steel grade under the API 5L standard system, primarily used in petroleum, natural gas, and other high-pressure fluid transportation systems. X52: This denotes the steel’s “strength grade.” The ‘X’ represents its yield strength in thousands of pounds per square inch (psi). “52” indicates its specified minimum yield strength of 52,000 psi. Simply put, API 5L X52 is pipeline-specific steel conforming to API 5L standards, guaranteed to have a minimum yield strength of 52,000 psi (360 MPa). Due to its controllable cost, high strength, and manageable construction challenges, this steel grade sees extremely high usage globally, particularly in major projects.

PSL2-rated pipes in API 5L X52 require Charpy impact testing, with the test temperature determined by the local operating temperature.
Each pipe has passed a hydrostatic test to ensure quality.
Pipes are marked with standards, steel grades, and production processes for easy traceability.
Multiple production processes are available. Our company operates three production lines covering seamless pipes, welded pipes, and spiral welded pipes.
Third-party inspections are supported, along with random sampling, to ensure product quality.

Yield strength above 530 MPa changes the microstructure. Ferrite-pearlite becomes acicular ferrite. Toughness drops. Weld heat-affected zone hardens. We set the upper limit to prevent over-strength from damaging ductility.
