Frame Scaffolding is a construction scaffolding product fabricated from carbon steel pipes. This prefabricated, modular scaffolding system features a portal frame structure enabling rapid assembly and is widely used in the construction industry. Its primary components are circular welded pipes manufactured using high-frequency resistance welding. Adherence to international production standards ensures standardized product parameters, guaranteeing functionality meets production requirements. As a load-bearing product, Frame Scaffolding demands specific requirements for strength, weldability, and surface corrosion protection. Detailed specifications are provided below.
O.D.:
42 mm – 60 mm
Common diameters include 42.7 mm, 48.3 mm, and 60 mm. 48.3 mm is the most globally prevalent scaffolding standard.
W.T.:
2.0 mm – 3.5 mm
Wall thickness generally ranges from 2.0 mm to 3.5 mm.
Frame Width::
900 mm – 1524 mm Overall width of the scaffolding frame.
Frame Height:
900 mm – 2000 mm Vertical height of a single scaffolding frame unit.
Cross Brace Length:
1800 mm – 2500 mm Length of the cross brace connecting two frames
Steel Pipe Length:
3 m – 12 m Pipe length may be adjusted based on structural requirements.
Surface Treatment:
Hot Dip Galvanizing, Pre-Galvanizing, or Powder Coating / Painted
Standards:
ASTM A500 / ASTM A53 / S235 / S335 / STK400 / STK500
The core components of frame scaffolding are load-bearing frames and support tubes, making the selection of high-quality carbon steel tubes paramount. Below are some standards and characteristics of carbon steel tubes for your reference.
| Standard | Material | Characteristics |
| ASTM A500 | Grade B/C | High strength, excellent weldability, suitable for structural load-bearing |
| ASTM A53 | Grade B | Low cost, good weldability, commonly used in lightweight scaffolding |
| EN S235 | S235JR | European standard low-carbon steel, good toughness, suitable for general structures |
| EN S355 | S355J2 | High-strength steel, capable of withstanding heavy scaffolding loads |
| JIS STK400 / STK500 | STK400、STK500 | Japanese standard steel pipes, excellent weldability and bending resistance |
Performance Specifications:
Strength: Load-bearing capacity under construction loads
Toughness: Maximum force required to deform or fracture under external force
Weldability: Whether field welding capability is required
Steel Preparation–Pipe Forming (ERW)–Pipe Cutting–Pipe Bending–Gantry Welding–Surface Treatment–Inspection.
Note:
1. Ensure material chemical composition meets requirements; steel surfaces must be free of severe defects like cracks or porosity.
2. Steel strip cut edges must be flush, with final dimensions matching the pipe’s outer diameter.
3. After welding, pipes require multiple roller passes for sizing and straightening. Severe pipe bending may compromise subsequent welding.
4. During cutting, monitor cutting pressure to prevent excessive force from distorting the pipe diameter.
5. Prior to anti-corrosion treatment, thorough degreasing, rust removal, and surface cleaning are mandatory.

Yes, ALLLAND can provide steel pipes for Frame Scaffolding.
We primarily supply high-quality structural steel pipes for manufacturing portal scaffolding, typically used to produce:
Scaffolding Frame (Portal Frame)
Cross Brace
Guard Rail
Diagonal Brace
Other scaffolding structural components
These steel pipes are usually manufactured from carbon steel and can be provided with surface treatments such as black pipes, painted, pre-galvanized, or hot-dip galvanized according to customer requirements to enhance corrosion resistance and service life.
Yes, Frame Scaffolding is typically delivered as a complete scaffolding system. We package the system and ship it to you as a set, eliminating any concerns.
Extremely easy. Most modules are pre-connected at the factory, requiring only simple on-site installation. No welding or riveting is needed.
