High-Temperature 3LPP Steel Pipes for Extreme Durability and Chemical Resistance

Built with a three-layer polypropylene (3LPP) system—fusion bonded epoxy primer, adhesive copolymer, and extruded polypropylene topcoat—these pipes deliver exceptional resistance to corrosion, impact, and elevated temperatures up to 110°C. The FBE layer ensures strong adhesion to the steel surface; the adhesive layer bonds tightly to the outer polypropylene, forming a unified shield that resists mechanical damage, chemicals, and moisture. Widely used in high-temperature oil, gas, and industrial service lines, 3LPP provides long-term structural protection with reduced maintenance over decades of operation.

OD 60–3000 mm (2"–118") WT 5–40 mm Length 6–12.5 m (customized) ISO 21809-3 · CSA Z245.21 · DIN 30678

3LPP Steel Pipe features a three-layer polypropylene coating—FBE primer, adhesive copolymer, and PP overwrap—for enhanced thermal and mechanical resistance.

Excellent high-temperature endurance up to 110°C and superior adhesion performance for buried or subsea pipelines.

Designed for oil, gas, and chemical transport lines in harsh environments, extending service life beyond 30–50 years.

Manufactured per API 5L, EN, ASTM, and GB standards with customizable ends and coating options.

Description

3LPP steel pipe is a high-performance solution for pipelines operating under elevated temperature and mechanical stress conditions. The system consists of a fusion-bonded epoxy primer for strong adhesion, an adhesive copolymer for interlayer bonding, and a polypropylene topcoat that provides excellent resistance to impact, chemicals, and heat up to 110 °C.

Each 3LPP steel pipe is produced through automated electrostatic and extrusion coating processes under strict quality control, ensuring uniform thickness and consistent bonding strength. This advanced protection system extends the service life of 3LPP steel pipes in demanding environments such as oil, gas, and chemical transport lines—both onshore and offshore.

  • 3LPP steel pipe offers superior protection against heat, impact, and abrasion.
  • Strong adhesion maintained during bending, handling, and installation.
  • Service life 30–50 years with minimal maintenance requirements.
  • Complies with ISO 21809-3, DIN 30678, and CSA Z245.21 standards.

Production Process

3LPP Coating Production Process

The 3LPP coating process involves surface preparation, FBE primer application, adhesive copolymer bonding, and polypropylene extrusion. Each layer is applied under controlled conditions to ensure strong adhesion, uniform thickness, and excellent thermal and mechanical protection.

Main Applications

3LPP steel pipes are engineered for high-temperature and mechanically demanding environments. Their triple-layer polypropylene coating system offers outstanding impact strength, heat resistance, and long-term protection for onshore and offshore pipelines operating under harsh service conditions.

Oil & Gas Pipelines

Used in crude oil and natural gas transmission lines where resistance to elevated temperature and external mechanical stress is essential.

Chemical & Industrial Lines

Applied in chemical transport, refinery, and industrial fluid systems exposed to aggressive media or high process temperatures.

Offshore & Subsea Pipelines

Ideal for subsea and offshore projects requiring thermal stability, strong adhesion, and impact resistance in marine conditions.

Water & Utility Networks

Suitable for high-temperature water conveyance, desalination plants, and cooling systems demanding long service life and coating reliability.

Infrastructure & Energy Projects

Used in buried or above-ground pipeline systems within power generation, construction, and industrial infrastructure sectors.

Advantages

  • Thermal Resistance: 3LPP steel pipe maintains coating integrity at continuous operating temperatures up to 110 °C.
  • Mechanical Strength: The polypropylene outer layer provides superior impact and abrasion resistance during handling and installation.
  • Strong Adhesion: FBE primer and adhesive copolymer ensure durable bonding and excellent peel resistance under thermal cycling.
  • Extended Service Life: Provides 30–50 years of reliable protection in buried, marine, or industrial environments.
  • Standard Compliance: Conforms to ISO 21809-3, DIN 30678, CSA Z245.21, and related international specifications.

Packing & Transportation

3LPP steel pipes are carefully packaged to prevent coating damage during handling and shipment. Each pipe is fitted with end caps, separated by soft spacers, and wrapped to ensure surface protection and stability throughout transportation.

  • Bundle or Frame Packing: Pipes are fastened with steel straps or wooden frames, using protective pads to avoid coating contact.
  • Container Shipping: Recommended for ≤6 m pipe lengths and small to medium project quantities.
  • Bulk Vessel Transport: Suitable for large-diameter or long-length 3LPP steel pipes, supported by wooden saddles and multilayer wrapping to prevent deformation.
