Description

LSAW Steel Pipe is produced from steel plate and welded along the pipe axis to form a straight-seam tube. The route typically includes plate pretreatment, JCOE forming, double-sided submerged-arc welding (DSAW), and mechanical expansion; multi-wire SAW provides a high-strength, high-integrity seam with tight dimensional control.

As a solution for long-distance transmission and major works—such as oil & gas pipelines, water conservancy projects, submarine lines, and bridge piling—LSAW Steel Pipe offers strong pressure capability, accurate geometry, and efficient material utilization. With appropriate anti-corrosion systems, service life up to several decades can be achieved.

  • JCOE forming + double-sided SAW for stable seams and consistent performance.
  • Mechanical expansion improves roundness and tolerance control.
  • LSAW Steel Pipe is engineered for trunk lines, offshore sections, and piling applications.
  • FBE / 3LPE / 3LPP corrosion systems for long-term protection.

Production Process

LSAW Steel Pipe Production Process

The LSAW manufacturing process ensures high dimensional accuracy, uniform weld quality, and reliability for demanding oil, gas, and water transmission projects.

Main Applications

LSAW pipes serve as key components in energy, water, and structural projects—combining precise forming, strong weld integrity, and flexible coatings for lasting performance.

Oil & Gas Transmission

Used in long-distance oil and gas pipelines, providing high pressure resistance and stable weld quality for safe operation.

Structural Engineering

Applied in bridges, offshore platforms, and deep foundation piles requiring high strength and durability.

Water Infrastructure

Ideal for large-scale water supply, drainage, and sewer systems that demand high flow efficiency and corrosion protection.

Mining & Energy

Used in slurry, tailing, and hydropower pipelines exposed to heavy wear and high pressure environments.

Urban Construction

For metro tunnels, deep foundation supports, and underground structures ensuring long-term stability and safety.

Advantages

  • Large Diameter Range: Available from 16" (406 mm) up to 60" (1524 mm) to serve mainline and high-capacity transmission needs.
  • Thick-Wall Capability: Produced with wall thickness from 6 mm to over 60 mm to handle high internal pressures and heavy loads.
  • High Strength & Toughness: Advanced steel grades (X60–X80) and optimized welding deliver superior strength and low-temperature toughness.
  • Excellent Weld Quality: Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) ensures consistent seams, minimal defects, and outstanding mechanical integrity.
  • Dimensional Accuracy: UOE / JCOE forming guarantees precise roundness, straightness, and tolerance control.
  • Economic Efficiency: For large-diameter, thick-wall applications, LSAW offers better cost-to-performance ratio than seamless pipes.

Packing & Transportation

Due to their large diameter and weight, LSAW Steel Pipe products are carefully secured during transport using custom saddles, anti-deformation supports, and end protectors. Depending on project volume and distance, three major logistics methods are applied to ensure the safe delivery of each LSAW Steel Pipe shipment.

  • Container Shipping: Suitable for short-length or small-batch deliveries—safe and convenient for regional projects.
  • Bulk Carrier: Economical for large-scale shipments, though requires meticulous end protection and handling during loading/unloading.
  • Special Pipe Vessels: Designed for long-distance, high-volume transport, offering maximum safety and pipe integrity during sea freight.
